A homeless man trapped in chest-high water was rescued early Friday morning in Lake Highlands, Dallas Fire-Rescue reported.

Crews used a rope, ladder and vest to get him out of danger near Forest Lane and Cottonwood Creek Trail after another homeless man saw him around 3:30 a.m., officials said.

The man, who was apparently sleeping under a bridge when floodwaters rose, was taken to a hospital for observation.
